The third major "Amrit Shan" of the Maha Kumbh took place on Monday (February 3, 2025) i.e., on Basant Panchami. Millions of people from around the world gathered at an early hour of sunrise at Sangam. According to the Hindu calendar, the arrival of spring is auspiciously marked by the fall of Basant Panchami on Magh Shukla Panchami.
The dates for Amrit Snan are selected according to the astrological positions of the Sun, Moon, and Jupiter, which are believed to strengthen the spiritual power of the holy rivers. The first three Amrit Snans that occurred during Maha Kumbh 2025 were on January 15 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami). The next Amrit Snan is scheduled for February 12 (Maghi Purnima).
In addition to Amrit Snan dates, three major bathing days were scheduled. The first was on January 13 (Paush Purnima) and the next two were on February 12 (Maghi Purnima) and February 26 (Mahashivratri), which served as the event's grand ending.
Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik, and Ujjain are the four most important Hindu celebrations, Mahakumbh Mela, which occurs every 12 years. In an attempt to purify their souls, millions of devotees gathered to bathe in holy rivers. Pilgrims engage in ceremonies and take sacred baths at the Triveni Sangam, the meeting place of the Yamuna, Ganges, and renowned Saraswati rivers.
