Key Point To Remember While Shifting To New House:

Avoid Tuesdays and Saturdays. While Tuesday is governed by Mars, or Mangal, which might promote conflict and stress, Saturday is governed by Saturn, or Shani, which represents delays and obstacles. Thus, these are inauspicious days for house shifting.

There are different ways to perform the Griha Pravesh Ceremony according to Hindu beliefs.

1. Dwandhav: The first is known as Dwandhav. This type of ceremony should be performed when returning after having been away from home for an extended period of time due to a natural disaster. 

2. Sapoorva: The second way is referred to as Sapoorva and should occur when you have left your home for an extended period of time and returned. For example, if you have worked in another city and had no one living in your home while you were gone, it would be a good idea to perform a Griha Pravesh ceremony before entering your home. Be sure to thoroughly clean your house before conducting the puja.

3. Apoorva: The third way is Apoorva Griha Pravesh, which should be performed when you have bought a newly constructed home.

1. The Griha Pravesh Ceremony should only take place in a fully constructed house (with the doors, windows, and roof all constructed and set for immediate use).

2. Only the cooking gas/oven may be moved prior to the Vastu Puja.

3. The Griha Pravesh cannot be done on a Tuesday but may exceptionally be done on a Sunday or Saturday.

4. The house is to be entered by bringing in a Kalash that has been filled with water, coconut, and a minimum of 8 leaves from one of the three following kinds of (coconut) trees: coconut palm, date palm, or areca palm.

5. The Kalash is to be set in the NE corner of the house.

6. All Brahmins should be fed on the Griha Pravesh day.

7. On the first day, green leafy vegetables and jaggery (raw sugar) should be kept in the kitchen.

8. The entire house should be purified by sprinkling holy water mixed with mango leaves throughout the entire house (inside and outside).

9. A coconut should be broken before entering a new house, as it is believed that breaking a coconut will remove any obstacles created during your evolution into your new journey.

10. You should enter the house with your right foot first.

11. The Puja idol should be placed in an east-facing location within the house.

12. On the date of the Griha Pravesh ceremony, milk should be boiled. This ritual is thought to invite auspiciousness and prosperous days to the new home. 

13. The puja should only be completed when all family members are well, healthy, and happy about living in their new home. It is better for all negative feelings to remain away from the ceremony. 

14. No furniture should be moved out of the new home until after the Griha Pravesh ceremony. 

15. No new home should remain vacant for three days prior to the Griha Pravesh ceremony. 

16. The puja shall not be done in a home where there has been a death within the family or the lady of the house is pregnant. 

17. Do not chit-chat while doing the puja.
